SCORPION CONTROL IN LAS VEGAS
Are you having an issue with scorpions in your home? Most scorpions in the United States are not venomous, with the exception of two species found in the southwest. If the scorpion is venomous or you are unsure if it is then you probably don’t want to handle it yourself. The Swat Bug Killer Technicians are trained to inspect for issues regarding scorpions and use proper chemicals to get rid of the issues. One of the most common species of scorpions that can wander into houses is called the striped bark scorpion.
STRIPED BARK SCORPIONS
These scorpions are found most commonly in the southwestern states in the United States and northern Mexico. They are pale-yellow in color with two dark, longitudinal stripes on its carapace, with a dark triangular above the ocular tubercle. At just under 3 inches in length the sting from one of these is rarely fatal. Those that do get stung typically experience localized swelling, but it is very painful. Another more dangerous type of scorpion you might encounter is called the Arizona bark scorpion.
ARIZONA BARK SCORPIONS
The Arizona bark scorpion is one of the most venomous scorpion in the United States. The effects of its venom can last up to 72 hours and can cause severe pain along with numbness, tingling, and vomiting. It is common to temporarily lose function of the limb where the sting occurred and the feeling has been likened to being electrocuted. Fatalities have been reported among small children, the elderly, pets and adults with compromised immune systems. These scorpions should be handled by professionals. There are a few preventative measures you can take to keep these pests out of your house.
HOW TO AVOID GETTING SCORPIONS
There are some things you can do that can help reduce the chances of scorpions entering your home. Firstly, remove any piles of trash, stones, firewood or any debris around the outside of your house that could house scorpions. Secondly, caulk up any holes or other possible entrance points around your house. Pour two tablespoons of bleach down your drains weekly if you have noticed scorpions entering that way. Check for holes in any mesh screening around doors and windows. These steps can help to reduce the likelihood of a scorpion infestation.
